Annual Inflation Reaches 36.33 Percent in October
The Statistics Department announced that the cost-of-living index for October increased by 1.09 percent. According to the report, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) recorded a 33.80 percent rise compared to December of the previous year, and a 36.33 percent increase compared to the same month last year.
Among the main expenditure groups, the highest monthly increase was recorded in the clothing and footwear category with 18.93 percent. Housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels rose by 5.72 percent; miscellaneous goods and services by 2.87 percent; food and non-alcoholic beverages by 1.34 percent; furniture, household appliances, and maintenance services by 0.99 percent; alcoholic beverages and tobacco by 0.89 percent; transportation by 0.75 percent; health by 0.72 percent; recreation and culture by 0.23 percent; and education by 0.14 percent.
Meanwhile, restaurant and hotel prices fell by 6.89 percent, and communication services declined slightly by 0.03 percent.
Compared to the previous month, the prices of 394 items increased, while 104 items showed a decrease. The highest price rises were recorded in quince (90.23%), pumpkin (72.42%), and national lottery tickets (60%). The steepest drops were seen in pomegranate (49.91%), mango (41.08%), and lemon (32.70%).
