Trial of Greek Cypriot Defendants Postponed to Thursday
The trial of Greek Cypriot defendants A.K. and A.K., charged with “violating a military restricted zone,” has been postponed to Thursday, November 6, following the hearing of witnesses at the İskele District Court. The defendants had previously been acquitted of charges of “trespassing” and “causing a public disturbance.”
A.K. (M-60) and A.K. (F-60) appeared once again before the İskele District Court today, where additional witnesses were heard. The hearing was adjourned to Thursday for the continuation of witness testimonies.
Earlier in the proceedings, the prosecution had withdrawn the “trespassing” and “public disturbance” charges against five defendants, leading to their acquittal on those counts. Despite the acquittal, the trial on the charge of “violating a military restricted zone” continues.
The defendants, who are being tried without detention, had their case initially adjourned to Friday, November 7, for final statements and a ruling.
