Erhürman: Halloumi’s PDO Registration and Solar Energy Project in Buffer Zone on the Agenda
President Tufan Erhürman said that issues related to the Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) registration process of halloumi and the delays in the planned solar energy project in the buffer zone were discussed. He also noted that efforts are continuing to promote the international engagement of municipalities.
In a statement on social media, President Erhürman said, “Today, the problems regarding halloumi’s PDO registration with the European Union and the disputes over the solar power plant project planned in the buffer zone were on our agenda.”
Erhürman added that he met with mayors who are members of the Cyprus Turkish Municipalities Union delegation attending the General Assembly of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe.
“We had a productive meeting where we evaluated what more we can do together to help our municipalities engage with the world,” he said.
