PM Üstel: “We Will Not Allow Anyone to Disturb Our People’s Peace”
Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, following an internal security meeting held at the Prime Ministry, evaluated recent developments affecting public peace in the country.
In a statement after the meeting, Üstel emphasized that no one will be allowed to disrupt the public’s sense of security. He said, “Within the framework of existing security cooperation agreements with the Republic of Turkey, we will further strengthen our country’s internal security. We are initiating the necessary measures to implement additional precautions regarding entries into the country and to enforce effective inspection mechanisms.”
According to a Prime Ministry statement, the meeting, chaired by Üstel, was attended by Interior Minister Dursun Oğuz, Security Forces Commander Major General İlker Görgülü, Police Chief Ali Adalıer, and other officials.
Üstel noted that the government is closely monitoring attacks, threats, extortion, and actions aimed at creating unrest, particularly targeting the business community and certain citizens. He stressed that such actions not only target individuals but also threaten the general peace of society, and that the government is determined not to allow events that undermine public security and disrupt peace.
“We are initiating measures to implement additional precautions and inspection mechanisms regarding entries into the country”
Acknowledging the Police Directorate’s successful efforts in combating crime, Üstel added:
“At the same time, to enable our security units to operate more effectively, we reaffirmed our determination to take important steps to meet their personnel, infrastructure, and technological needs, and to implement the necessary legal regulations without delay. Within the framework of the security cooperation agreements with the Republic of Turkey, we will further strengthen our internal security and launch initiatives to introduce additional measures on entries into the country and enforce effective inspection mechanisms.”
“Whoever tries to create a climate of fear on this land will always face the TRNC’s security institutions”
Üstel affirmed that the TRNC will continue to be a country of peace, security, and stability. He said, “In this regard, we will continue to take every necessary step with courage and determination. All state institutions are on duty. Let our people be reassured: whoever attempts to create a climate of fear on this land will always encounter the security institutions of the TRNC.”
