29 Injured in 74 Traffic Accidents Last Week
Last week, 74 traffic accidents occurred in the country, resulting in 29 injuries, with speeding again identified as the leading cause. According to the Police Press Office, between November 3–9, 19 of the accidents resulted in injuries, while 55 caused property damage.
Among the causes of accidents, 25 were due to speeding, 18 for failing to stop at intersections, 16 due to careless driving, 9 for tailgating, and 6 for other reasons. The total property damage from these accidents amounted to 3.76 million TRY. By district, 31 accidents occurred in Nicosia, 20 in Kyrenia, 15 in Famagusta, 5 in İskele, and 3 in Morphou.
During the same period, traffic inspections across the country covered 17,103 drivers. Of these, 2,826 were found to have committed violations and were issued citations. Additionally, 260 vehicles were removed from traffic, and 9 drivers were arrested.
