İstanbul Chief Public Prosecutor Requests Up to 2,352 Years in Prison for Ekrem İmamoğlu
The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor, Akın Gürlek, has announced the long-awaited indictment regarding the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB). The indictment is set to be submitted to the court at 15:00 local time. According to the prosecutor’s office, CHP member and former mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu faces a prison sentence ranging from 828 to 2,352 years.
The indictment, prepared by the Organized Crime Investigation Bureau, covers a total of 402 suspects, including 105 in detention, 170 under judicial control, and 7 sought with arrest warrants. The charges involve 143 separate actions, including:

Assisting a criminal organization without being part of its hierarchy

Fraud against public institutions

Among the suspects, 99 are considered core members of the organization, including leaders and organizers, such as Fatih Keleş, Murat Ongun, Ertan Yıldız, Murat Gülbiharioğlu, Adem Soytekin, as well as some businesspeople, public officials, and politicians linked to the organization.
Ekrem İmamoğlu, identified as the founder and leader of the organization, is specifically charged with 142 offenses, including:
