Erhürman Meets Kurtulmuş

During his first official overseas visit, President Erhürman held talks in Ankara with TBMM Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş.

In his remarks at the Assembly, Erhürman conveyed his condolences to the Turkish nation for the 20 martyrs and expressed his wishes for patience to their families.

Expressing pride in being at the TBMM with Speaker Kurtulmuş and his delegation, Erhürman described the relationship between the TRNC and Turkey as “a special relationship that cannot be compared to that of any other two states.”

Highlighting the close ties between the friendship groups of the TBMM and the TRNC’s Cumhuriyet Meclisi, Erhürman stressed the importance of conveying the Turkish Cypriot people’s struggle for existence to the world through the TBMM.

Kurtulmuş

Speaker Kurtulmuş expressed his great pleasure in hosting President Erhürman at the TBMM and underlined the importance of officials from the TRNC and Turkey conducting their first official visits to each other following elections.

Congratulating Erhürman on his election as President and wishing him success in his duties, Kurtulmuş described the relations between the two states as exceptional, noting that these ties have matured over time and developed steadily to reach their current stage.

Kurtulmuş also highlighted inter-parliamentary cooperation, noting that especially in the past two years, significant work has been conducted with the participation of the Azerbaijani Parliament.

Referring to the loss of 20 heroic Turkish soldiers on Georgian soil, Kurtulmuş expressed Turkey’s deep grief and offered prayers for mercy for the martyrs and patience for their families and the Turkish nation.

Following the meeting, President Erhürman toured the TBMM General Assembly and received briefings from officials.
