Three District Women’s Branch Chairs Dismissed in UBP
The National Unity Party (UBP) Party Assembly has dismissed the women’s branch chairs in three districts following a decision by Party Leader and Prime Minister Ünal Üstel. The affected districts will undergo restructuring.
According to information obtained by Kıbrıs Postası, Kyrenia Women’s Branch Chair Fatma Ünal, Nicosia Women’s Branch Chair Nükte Olgun, and Famagusta Women’s Branch Chair Yeşim Ünsalan Sefer have been removed from their positions.
Party sources stated that the decision was made to “restructure internal party discipline and ensure harmony within the organization,” noting that the dismissals were introduced unexpectedly.
The decision was reportedly taken by majority vote during the Party Assembly meeting, and new appointments to the women’s branches are expected in the coming days.
Within the party, the dismissals are said to be linked to upcoming political processes, planned changes in organizational strategy, and alleged incompatibilities within certain district branches.
The names of the new women’s branch chairs are expected to be announced soon.
