EC Fully Supports Southern Cyprus’ Schengen Efforts
The European Commission has expressed full support for Southern Cyprus’ efforts to complete the technical preparations for joining the Schengen Area.
Magnus Brunner, European Commissioner for Home Affairs and Migration, met on Wednesday in Brussels with Nikolas Ioannidis, the Southern Cyprus government’s Undersecretary for Migration and International Protection.
According to Haravgi, Brunner highlighted in a social media post that the European Commission backs Southern Cyprus’ efforts to finalize the technical steps required for full Schengen participation.
Brunner reiterated that Southern Cyprus has the Commission’s full support in swiftly completing all technical requirements across relevant areas.
The report also noted that Brussels is advancing smart border control systems in relation to the process.
