Falyalı Assassination Case Advances to Kyrenia Assize Court
A significant development has emerged in the Halil Falyalı assassination investigation after audio recordings and WhatsApp messages obtained from case files in Turkey were delivered to the north. As a result, the case file of primary suspect Musa Çiçek has been referred to the Kyrenia Assize Court without further investigation.
According to reporting by Gündem Kıbrıs, a video file containing audio recordings and WhatsApp conversations from the case heard at Istanbul Çağlayan Courthouse between 2022 and 2024 has now reached North Cyprus.
Musa Çiçek, the main suspect in the assassination, was brought from prison to the Kyrenia District Court, where he was formally charged under the case opened by the prosecution. Presiding Judge Mine Gündüz ruled that the submitted evidence was sufficient for the file to be forwarded directly to the Assize Court without the need for additional investigation.
During the hearing, Çiçek’s voluntary statement, witness testimonies, audio files, and a video recording containing WhatsApp messages were submitted as evidence on a CD. The court concluded that these materials were adequate for the case to be sent to the higher court.
The file has been transferred to the Kyrenia Assize Court, where the hearing is scheduled to take place on 11 December 2025.
