Case Against Journalist Ali Kişmir Postponed Indefinitely for Verdict
The case against Basın-Sen President and journalist Ali Kişmir, who faces up to 10 years in prison over a social media post, has been postponed indefinitely for the announcement of the verdict after the prosecution delivered its submissions today at the Constitutional Court.
The hearing was held under the chairmanship of Bertan Özerdağ, President of the Constitutional Court and the High Court. Prosecutor Hasan Boşnak appeared on behalf of the Attorney General’s Office, while Hasan Esendağlı, President of the Cyprus Turkish Bar Association, and Cemre İpçiler represented Kişmir.
Prosecutor Boşnak presented the prosecution’s arguments during today’s session. Following the submissions, the court ordered that the case be adjourned indefinitely pending a decision.
In the previous hearing, the defence team had delivered its final submissions.
