Erhürman: No Negative Developments on the Effectiveness of the IPC in Strasbourg
President Tufan Erhürman said there were no negative developments regarding the effectiveness of the Immovable Property Commission (IPC) during the Council of Europe’s Committee of Ministers meeting, stressing that efforts to further strengthen the commission will continue without interruption.
In a statement shared on social media, Erhürman announced that the Committee of Ministers had concluded its assessments on the IPC.
“The meeting of the Delegates Committee in Strasbourg has ended. There is no negative development concerning the effectiveness of the Immovable Property Commission, which the European Court of Human Rights has repeatedly confirmed as an effective domestic remedy. No adverse outcome emerged on other property-related issues either,” Erhürman said. He added that the next review will take place in June 2026.
Erhürman reiterated that work to enhance the IPC’s capacity and functioning will continue steadily.
On Tuesday, Erhürman had said significant steps were being taken to improve the IPC’s current structure, stating, “We will bring the Immovable Property Commission to a stronger point than it is today. Preparations have begun, and some have already been completed.”
He also noted that a comprehensive study was under way regarding the IPC’s fund, with a group of retired judges and public administrators preparing a special fund model.
