EU Envoy Hahn to Return to Cyprus Ahead of Trilateral Meeting
The European Union’s Special Representative for the Cyprus Problem, Johannes Hahn, will return to the island next week ahead of Thursday’s trilateral meeting between Nikos Christodoulidis, María Ángela Holguín and President Tufan Erhürman.
Greek Cypriot Government Spokesperson Konstantinos Letymbiotis announced Hahn’s visit following Christodoulidis’s meeting with the UN Secretary-General’s Personal Envoy María Ángela Holguín.
According to a report in Cyprus Mail, Letymbiotis described Hahn’s presence on the island during the trilateral encounter as a “fortunate coincidence.” He noted that Holguín is expected to meet Hahn during her stay and that Hahn, like Holguín, is scheduled to hold separate meetings with both Christodoulidis and Erhürman. Hahn, who was appointed as the EU’s special representative in May, previously visited Cyprus in June, meeting both leaders in Nicosia.
