The latest surge in drug-related incidents prompted intensified action by the Narcotics and Anti-Smuggling Directorate, which conducted multiple raids across four locations in Northern Cyprus.

On 5 December 2025, two individuals identified as E.B. (36) and M.O. (38) were detained upon arrival at Ercan Airport after narcotics detection dog Pamir alerted officers. A search of their belongings uncovered four cannabis-laced rolled cigarettes.

That same day, during the “Anka Operation” conducted in Metehan, police seized approximately two kilograms of cannabis from the possession of I.N. (22), who was taken into custody.

In Nicosia, a search of the residence of E.K. (22) and M.C.G. (21) uncovered 44 grams of packaged cannabis ready for sale, four cannabis-laced rolled cigarettes and cash believed to be proceeds of drug sales—95,955 TL, 1,140 euros and 100 pounds. A related investigation involving F.O. (31) and U.Ö. (31) led to the discovery of a precision scale and one gram of cannabis. All suspects were arrested.

Separately, in Kyrenia on 4 December, police found 600 grams of cannabis and a precision scale in the possession of W.C. (25). The continuing investigation led officers to Lefke, where T.C.D.C. (22), R.T.G. (23) and T.F.C. (27) were located and arrested. Police later confirmed that R.T.G. was also linked to an incident on 27 February 2025 involving 800 grams of cannabis left at a location in Kyrenia.

Police stated that investigations are being expanded and operations targeting narcotics networks will continue in the coming days.
