Work Continues to Prevent Gönyeli Dam Overflow From Affecting Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu Hospital
Efforts are under way to ensure that water flowing from the Gönyeli Dam does not affect Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu Hospital, with the Nicosia Turkish Municipality (LTB) and hospital administration working in close coordination.
LTB Mayor Mehmet Harmancı said measures are being reinforced to protect the hospital from rising water levels coming from the dam.
Harmancı noted that they are acting in full cooperation with Chief Physician Mustafa Kalfaoğlu, adding: “We are working to ensure that water coming from the Gönyeli Dam does not impact the hospital. We are trying to protect the hospital by obtaining New Jersey barriers from the private sector and by reinforcing the area with earthen embankments.”
