Health Minister Hakan Dinçyürek and the hospital’s Chief Physician, Prof. Dr. Salih Müjdat Balkan, held a briefing on the prime minister’s condition.

Dinçyürek

Health Minister Dinçyürek said Üstel began experiencing abdominal pain yesterday morning, which intensified throughout the day. He noted that Üstel had previously undergone surgery for the same condition at Near East University Hospital and returned there as the pain worsened.

According to Dinçyürek, Üstel arrived at the hospital around 22:00, where an examination by the same surgical team that had treated him before revealed an urgent need for surgery. He said the operation was completed successfully, and the prime minister’s condition is stable and progressing as expected. Dinçyürek added that Üstel is likely to make a full recovery within a few days. He conveyed his well-wishes to the prime minister and thanked the medical team for their work.

Balkan

Prof. Dr. Salih Müjdat Balkan, a general surgery specialist and the hospital’s Chief Physician, provided technical details about the procedure. He stated that Üstel arrived late last night with severe abdominal pain and was diagnosed with a hernia, prompting immediate surgery.

Balkan confirmed that the operation was successful and that Üstel has no life-threatening complications. He is expected to be discharged in the coming days. He also thanked General Surgeon Ali Özant and his team, who carried out the procedure.
