Showers And Thunderstorms Expected From Sunday

In its weather outlook covering the period from 18 to 24 December, the department said the region will be under the influence of a high-pressure system during the first half of the period, followed by a low-pressure system and a cold, humid air mass in the second half.

The weather is expected to be slightly cloudy tomorrow, while Friday and Saturday will be partly to mostly cloudy.

Rain is forecast to begin on Sunday. Conditions on Sunday and Monday will be locally showery, while Tuesday is expected to bring scattered showers or thunderstorms. On Wednesday, rainy conditions are forecast to give way to partly and mostly cloudy skies.

Maximum temperatures will range between 19 and 22 degrees Celsius in inland areas and along the coast during the first half of the period, dropping to around 15–18 degrees Celsius in the second half.

Winds will generally blow from the north at moderate strength, shifting to southerly and easterly directions on Sunday and Monday, at times blowing moderately to strongly.

Rainfall Recorded In The Last 24 Hours

Meanwhile, the Meteorology Department also released data on rainfall recorded over the past 24 hours.

According to the figures, Çayırova received 3 kilograms of rain per square metre, while Akdoğan, Mehmetçik and Alayköy each recorded 2 kilograms per square metre. Selvilitepe, Alsancak, Gönyeli, Kozanköy, Yenierenköy, Sipahi and Dörtyol recorded 1 kilogram per square metre.

Other areas that received rainfall recorded amounts ranging between 0.1 and 0.4 kilograms per square metre.
