The two Greek Cypriot defendants, A.K. (M-60) and A.K. (F-60), are being tried at the Iskele District Court on charges of “Violation of the Personal Data Protection Law” and “Violation of Privacy.” A.K. (M), against whom the charges were withdrawn, was released, while the other defendant, A.K. (F), pleaded guilty to the charges.
Counsel for A.K. (F), Öncel Polili, presented mitigating circumstances in favour of his client to the court. The court adjourned the hearing until Monday, 22 December, for the announcement of its decision.
In previous hearings, the prosecution had withdrawn the case regarding the charges of “Trespassing on Property” and “Public Disturbance” brought against five defendants, leading to their release on those counts.
Meanwhile, the defendants who had been tried at the Nicosia Military Court on charges of “Violating a Military Prohibited Zone” were acquitted.
